ABOUT US
Workplace & Overuse Hand Therapy for Bohemia Patients
If you live or work in Bohemia and a hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder problem is interfering with your job — whether you’ve developed carpal tunnel from years at a keyboard, hurt your wrist on the warehouse floor, or are recovering from surgery and need to get back to work safely — C.J. Allen OT Upper Extremity & Hand Therapy is the closest dedicated upper extremity rehabilitation practice in your area.
Our clinic is located at 2108 Joshuas Path in Hauppauge, roughly 6 miles north of Bohemia via Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 454) — typically a 10–12 minute drive. Free parking is on-site.

Work-Related Upper Extremity Conditions We Treat
Many of our Bohemia patients come to us because their job is making — or made — their condition worse. We routinely treat:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome — from prolonged computer, mouse, and repetitive hand use
- Tendonitis & tenosynovitis — de Quervain’s, trigger finger, and other inflammatory tendon conditions from repetitive gripping or pinching
- Tennis elbow & golfer’s elbow — overuse injuries common in trades, factory work, and desk work alike
- Hand and wrist fractures — from slips, falls, and workplace accidents
- Cumulative trauma disorders — gradual-onset injuries from years of repetitive strain
- Nerve compression injuries — including cubital tunnel and other compression neuropathies
- Post-surgical rehab for any of the above when conservative care wasn’t enough
If you have an open workers’ compensation case, bring your paperwork to your first visit and we’ll coordinate with your provider and case manager.
Why an OT-Led Practice for Work Injuries
Occupational therapy is, quite literally, the rehabilitation specialty focused on occupations — the work, tasks, and daily activities that make up your life. When the injury you’re rehabbing is the one keeping you from your job, that focus matters.
Our team includes Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) — occupational therapists who have logged at least 4,000 hours treating upper extremity injuries and passed a national board exam in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Fewer than 1% of OTs and PTs nationwide hold this credential.
For work-related cases, that depth translates to:
- Job-task analysis — understanding what motions, loads, and durations your job actually demands
- Ergonomic recommendations — workstation, tool grip, posture, and pacing adjustments to prevent re-injury
- Custom orthotics and splints — fabricated on-site, designed to support the injury without keeping you out of work longer than necessary
- Return-to-work conditioning — graded loading that rebuilds the specific strength and endurance your job requires
- Communication with your physician, surgeon, employer, or case manager — we work as part of your care team

A Personalized Approach
Every patient’s treatment plan begins with a thorough evaluation: medical history, range of motion, strength, pain, and the specific functional demands of your job and daily life. From there, we build a plan that may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, pain-relieving modalities, and — when needed — a custom splint or orthotic made for you on-site.
